Congress Demands CBI Investigation Into Paddy Scam, CM Saini Responds

On the sixth day of the Haryana Assembly budget session, Congress demanded a CBI investigation into the paddy scam. Congress MLAs BB Batra and Shaili Chaudhary said that the government’s investigations will continue as usual; a CBI inquiry should be conducted.
CM Nayab Saini responded to the calling attention motion on the paddy scam. The CM said that when Ashok Arora was raising the issue, he heard that a major scam had occurred. He wanted to inform the opposition that the government has taken prompt action. Saini said that a scam of 5,000 crore had occurred, and that major scams were common during the Congress regime.
He said that he would present all the facts. The CM said that in 2021-22, farmers produced 5.4 million metric tons of paddy, and the following year, they produced 5.9 million metric tons. The CM said that this is not a scam but a flaw, and immediate action has been taken on all the flaws found.
Oversight over this process is ensured through a multi-system system. We have improved this system. During Congress rule, farmers were not paid for years. Until today, farmers were unaware of their income. Now, this government has implemented this system.
Ashok Arora said that the Chief Minister repeatedly says that many scams occurred during the Congress regime. I would like to demand that the investigation of the paddy scam be handed over to the CBI along with all those scams. Minister Ranbir Gangwa responded that Ashok Arora is saying this because he was not in the Congress party at that time.
The CM said that farmers were suffering due to fraud during the Congress rule. Congress should explain which fraud it detected during its tenure. Following this, the Congress created a ruckus. The CM stated that 13 FIRs have been filed in the paddy scam, charge sheeting 75 officers and employees, and 28 have been suspended. Additionally, a fine of 6.37 crore has been imposed. The double-engine government led by Narendra Modi is attacking corruption.
