‘Sher-E-Punjab T20 League’ Match Will Now Be Even More Exciting
Many International Players Will Play In This Tournament

The ‘Sher-e-Punjab T20 League’ was formally launched at the PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, which marks the beginning of a new and golden chapter of cricket for Punjab. This tournament will be played from August 30 to September 13 and will feature many renowned cricketers of the state, including Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Gurnoor Brar, Prabhsimran Singh and Ramandeep Singh.
The launch of this league was announced by PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and President Amarjit Singh Mehta on which Indian cricket team captains Shubman Gill and Arshdeep Singh were present.
A total of six teams will face each other in 27 high-voltage matches in this league. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format. Each franchise will have one marquee player and at least two icon players, ensuring a great mix of international stars, local players and emerging talents from Punjab. The official logo of the tournament was also released.
Indian captain Shubman Gill said, “Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is a great platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent and move towards playing for Punjab and India. Punjab has always produced some of the best cricketers and I am confident that this league will help identify more such promising players. I congratulate the Punjab Cricket Association for this great initiative and wish the league great success.”
Punjab Cricket Association Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said, “Punjab has always been one of the biggest contributors to Indian cricket. From Lala Amarnath to great players like Yuvraj Singh and now players like Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur, the state has consistently produced world-class cricketers. There is no dearth of talent in Punjab. That is why we are confident that the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League will emerge as one of the premier domestic T20 tournaments in the country.”
He said that the Punjab Cricket League is a visionary initiative of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and its aim is to provide a professional platform to the budding cricketers of Punjab to showcase their talent and reach the highest level of the game. Meet Hayer further said, “This league will provide a suitable platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent with international stars and take the next step in their careers. We are grateful to all the players, Punjab Cricket Association and everyone associated with this initiative. We are confident that this league will prove to be a great and successful initiative.”
Punjab Cricket Association President Amarjit Mehta said, “Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is a great platform for the young cricketers of our state and we are grateful to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his continuous support in making this dream a reality. This league will give budding players an opportunity to share the dressing room with international stars, showcase their talent on a big stage and move forward in their cricketing journey. We are confident that Sher-e-Punjab T20 League will prove to be a more successful initiative and will play a vital role in shaping and further strengthening the future of Punjab cricket.”
On this occasion, PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, President Amarjit Mehta, Vice President Deepak Bali, Treasurer Sunil Gupta and Joint Secretary Siddhant Sharma felicitated the franchise owners and cricketers.
It is worth mentioning that the aim of this league is to provide a strong platform to the young cricketers of the state to showcase their talent, during which they will also share the dressing room with the leading players of India. Punjab has been one of the biggest contributors to Indian cricket in the past years and the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is expected to further strengthen the cricket ecosystem of the state.
The auction of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League will be held on August 9, in which six franchises from Amritsar, Fazilka, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali and Bathinda will select their teams. Each franchise will be able to spend a total of Rs 45 lakh on players. They will be able to include a maximum of 20 players in their team. The price of the marquee player has been fixed at Rs 10 lakh, while the base price of the icon player is Rs 1.50 lakh. Apart from this, different base prices have also been fixed for the first class, under-23, under-19 and district level players of Punjab.
