Entry Of Outside Vehicles Into Vrindavan Restricted
On Hariyali Teej, Thakur Banke Bihari will grant darshan to devotees while seated on a gold-and-silver swing an event that takes place only once a year. This occasion coincides with Independence Day (August 15) and the weekend (Saturday), creating a triple-holiday scenario that poses a crowd-control challenge for the police. The police administration has geared up to manage the influx of devotees. To ensure security and smooth traffic flow, the town has been divided into 4 super zones and 18 sectors.
The entry of outside vehicles into Vrindavan will be prohibited from the night of August 14 until the night of August 15. Police forces will be deployed at all entry points to the town. A traffic plan has been devised to ensure safety and facilitate easy darshan for the hundreds of thousands of devotees arriving from across the country. As part of this plan, the town is divided into four super zones and 18 sectors. Seventy checkpoints have been established where vehicles will be stopped using barriers; these points will be manned by PAC personnel, regular police, and traffic police.
ASP-rank officers will be in charge of each zone, while CO and Inspector-rank officers will oversee the sectors. Additionally, a large police force is being brought in from other districts. CCTV cameras and public address (PA) systems are being installed at all intersections and junctions; these will be linked to a control room to facilitate the issuance of timely instructions for crowd management. SSP Shlok Kumar stated that six lakh devotees visited for darshan last year on Hariyali Teej. This year, Hariyali Teej, Independence Day (August 15), and the weekend (Saturday) all fall on the same day, and an even larger turnout of devotees is anticipated.
