The monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will begin on August 21 and continue until September 3. This will be the 11th session of the 14th Legislative Assembly. A total of 10 sittings will be held during the session. So far, over 900 questions from MLAs have been submitted to the Assembly Secretariat. MLAs will be able to submit their questions until Tuesday, August 18. Questions received at the Assembly Secretariat are being forwarded to the relevant departments. The departments are preparing answers to these questions, which the ministers will present during Question Hour in the House during the session. Questions received so far include those from MLAs from both the BJP and Congress parties.
MLAs Focus On Local Issues
MLAs have also prominently raised local issues related to their respective assembly constituencies. The questions received at the Secretariat include issues related to various departments, including roads, drinking water, health, education, and development works. This clearly indicates that the monsoon session is likely to also discuss issues of local and public concern in the state.
Opposition Prepares To Corner The Government
During the monsoon session, the opposition’s aggressive stance is expected to lead to uproar in the House. The opposition is preparing to corner the government on various issues. Meanwhile, ruling party ministers may also adopt an aggressive stance in responding to opposition questions. Meetings of the BJP and Congress legislative parties are expected on August 20th, a day before the session begins. In these meetings, both parties may finalize their strategy within the House.
The Chief Minister Will Begin The Session At 11 A.M.
The Assembly proceedings will begin at 11 a.m. on August 21st. The Chief Minister will answer questions first during Question Hour. This will be followed by the Deputy Chief Minister, Health Minister, Agriculture Minister, Industry Minister, Revenue Minister, and Education Minister. This will be followed by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Public Works Minister, Town and Country Planning Minister, and AYUSH Minister. With over 900 questions received in the session, the number of questions is expected to increase in the coming days. Now it remains to be seen which issues the opposition raises most forcefully in the House and what response the government gives to them.
