Owner Starts And Rides It Impounds Bike Away From Traffic Lines
Chandigarh Police Impounds Bike For Missing Number Plate

The owner of a bike impounded at the Traffic Police Lines in Sector 29 managed to start the vehicle using a spare key and ride it away. The bike had been seized by the police a few days earlier because it lacked a number plate.
When the bike was found missing shortly thereafter, the police examined CCTV footage. The footage showed the owner himself taking the bike away using a duplicate key. The police subsequently tracked down the owner; however, as he apologized for his actions, no legal proceedings were initiated against him.
According to the police, a traffic police team was conducting vehicle checks in Sector 26 when they stopped a bike bearing a UP registration number but lacking a number plate. The rider, Rajendra, was unable to produce the necessary documents.
The police issued a challan of ₹10,500 and impounded the bike. CCTV footage captured Rajendra approaching the bike, starting it with a duplicate key, and riding it away. Upon being caught, he admitted his mistake and apologized.
