Private Schools Will Not Be Able To Increase Fees Arbitraril

 Cabinet Approves Ordinance

Private educational institutions in Punjab will now not be allowed to increase fees by more than 5 percent annually. An ordinance in this regard has been approved during the cabinet meeting and has been sent to the Governor for final approval.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains shared this information after the cabinet meeting. They said that any school that has increased fees by more than 15 percent in the last 36 months will have to refund the excess amount to the parents.

They further informed that a committee has been formed for schools wishing to increase fees by 5 percent; schools should apply for such increase six months in advance. Besides, schools will be required to conduct a financial audit and provide a justification for the proposed fee increase.
