Shiromani Akali Dal Accuses Mann Couple Of Accepting 5 Crore Bribe
Demand For CBI Probe; Protest Scheduled For September 5

The Shiromani Akali Dal has leveled serious allegations against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife. The party alleges that a bribe of ₹5 crore was accepted to suppress a rape case. The Akali Dal has demanded a CBI investigation into the entire matter.
Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal stated that, in this case, the rapist and those shielding him stand on one side, while the victimized girls stand on the other. He announced that the party would submit all evidence regarding this matter to the Governor. The Akali Dal alleges that the Chief Minister and his wife accepted a bribe of ₹5 crore to protect the accused.
Akali Dal chief spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema stated that one matter involves two rape victims who were allegedly paid ₹5 crore to settle the case. The accused in the rape case subsequently fled abroad. This is a very serious matter.
The second issue pertains to repeated letters sent by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) calling for the registration of an FIR against the Chief Minister’s OSD. Regarding the rape case, an injustice has been committed against the two girls. Very serious allegations have been raised against the Chief Minister’s wife. Women associated with the Shiromani Akali Dal, led by former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, will stage a massive protest in Chandigarh on September 5. They will gherao the Chief Minister and demand his resignation.
