Sonakshi Sinha Discusses ‘Reverse Nepotism’

Actress Sonakshi Sinha is currently making headlines regarding her upcoming film, *System*. The film is slated for release on an OTT platform. It is a courtroom drama in which Sonakshi will be seen portraying the character of a lawyer. Sonakshi recently spoke about the film and her role in it. She also revealed that the movie features a commentary on the concept of “reverse nepotism.”

A Character Inspired By Struggling Women

Speaking about the film, Sonakshi noted that it raises several issues that we often do not even stop to think about. It draws inspiration from real people, real events, and the occurrences taking place around us. In many instances, the film compels you to think deeply. Any film that forces you to engage your mind in such a way is, by definition, a good film. Regarding her character, Neha Rajvansh, Sonakshi stated that the character resonates with audiences not merely because of her profession, but because of her personality.

She is a multifaceted woman full of flaws and grappling with her own mistakes who is constantly battling her own internal conflicts. All these aspects resonate deeply with me, and undoubtedly with many other women out there who are striving to prove themselves but do not find success coming easily. In the film, Sonakshi’s character, Neha, hails from a family of lawyers; her father is one of the country’s leading defense attorneys. However, he insists that his daughter must prove her mettle as a practicing lawyer before joining the family business.

Reacting to this stipulation, Neha asks her father, “What kind of ‘reverse nepotism’ is this?” Commenting on this specific line and the film’s narrative, Sonakshi remarked that the story bears a certain resemblance to her own life. She added, “To be honest, I have experienced something very similar myself. My father has always told me, ‘You have to prove yourself.’ This is because he, too, lived by that very principle. It does not matter who you are; to get ahead in life, you must prove your worth.” In this way, you receive exactly what you deserve. Therefore, this, too, holds great significance for me.
