UPI Payments Facility Launched For Online Ticket Booking Of Burj Khalifa
Online booking for the popular attraction ‘At the Top, Burj Khalifa’ at the world’s tallest building in Dubai has now become easier for Indian tourists. NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), in partnership with NEOPAY and Emaar Entertainment, has announced the launch of UPI payments functionality for the service.
According to NIPL, the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Indian tourists will now be able to book tickets and experiences in advance through UPI by visiting the official website of ‘At the Top, Burj Khalifa’. This will allow travelers to plan their trip and complete payments before reaching Dubai.
The initiative further strengthens the existing partnership between NIPL and NEOPAY in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Following the launch of QR-based UPI merchant payments in the UAE in 2022, Indian travelers are making payments through UPI-enabled apps on NEOPAY’s network.
NIPL Managing Director and CEO Ritesh Shukla said that providing UPI for online bookings at world-famous tourist destinations like Burj Khalifa will make the payment process simple and convenient for Indian travelers. He added that travelers will be able to make payments from India while preparing for their trip.
NEOPAY CEO Vibhor Mundhra described it as a significant milestone in digital trade between India and the UAE. He said that his company has become the first to offer UPI payments for e-commerce transactions in the Gulf Region (GCC), providing better digital payment options to millions of Indian customers.
Emaar Entertainment officials also welcomed the initiative, saying that India is one of their most important international markets and the inclusion of UPI as a payment option will enhance the experience for Indian travelers. It is worth mentioning that NIPL was established on April 3, 2020, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NPCI. The organization is working to expand India’s indigenous payment systems such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay globally.
