On the special occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the makers of the film “Ramayana” released its first song, “Jai Jai Ram.” The song is sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, with music composed by A.R. Rahman. Immediately upon its release, the song sparked a wave of reactions from the audience on social media, and glimpses of the film’s characters also drew attention.

“Jai Jai Ram” features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, and Arun Govil. The song is filmed to celebrate the wedding of Ram and Sita. We also get glimpses of key characters such as Bharat, Shatrughna, Urmila, Shrutakirti, and Mandvi.

Adinath Kothare As Bharat

Marathi actor Adinath Kothare plays the role of Bharat in the film. Bharat is a significant figure in the story of the Ramayana. Lord Rama was sent into exile for 14 years due to Kaikeyi’s desire to see her son, Bharat, become king.

Nitish Sharma As Shatrughna

Actor Nitish Sharma plays the role of Shatrughna in the film; he is the youngest of the four brothers and the younger brother of Lakshmana. Nitish is an actor, athlete, storyteller, and anchor.

Speaking about his role, Nitish shared a video on Instagram. He recalled a difficult phase in his career, recounting how he had nearly secured a project with a major production house but was replaced at the last minute. Following this, he returned to his village in disappointment. Later, he received a call from Mukesh Chhabra Casting and was selected for ‘Ramayana’.

Surbhi Das As Shrutakirti

Assamese actress Surbhi Das plays the role of Shrutakirti Sita’s younger sister and Shatrughna’s wife in the film. For Surbhi, being part of this massive project was nothing short of an unexpected opportunity.

The actress revealed that she was unaware of the project’s scale at the time of the audition. Having grown disillusioned with her television work, she was shifting her focus towards digital projects and films. It was during this period that she auditioned for “Ramayana” and was selected.

Sonia Balani As Urmila

Sonia Balani, known for her appearances in shows and films like “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain” and “The Kerala Story,” will play the role of Urmila, Lakshman’s wife, in the film. Reportedly, Sonia’s initial preference was the role of Shurpanakha, but upon learning that Rakul Preet Singh had been cast in that part, she auditioned for the role of Urmila instead.

Rhea Kapoor As Mandvi

Rhea Kapoor will portray Mandvi Sita’s cousin and Bharat’s wife in the film. She has previously appeared in small roles in the Telugu film “Miss Terrible” and the Hindi web show “Sampoorna.”

Urmila and Mandvi are sisters. They are the daughters of King Kushdhwaj and Queen Chandrabhaga. Kushdhwaj is the brother of King Janak.

These Actors Are Also Playing Significant Roles

The film’s trailer has already given the audience a glimpse of several other important characters. Indira Krishnan will appear as Queen Kaushalya, Sonal Jha as Sumitra, and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi. Arun Govil is playing the role of King Dasharatha, while Ravi Dubey will appear as Lakshman and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara.

Actor Vivek Oberoi is playing the role of Vidyutjihva, Shurpanakha’s husband. Ranbir Kapoor will appear as both Ram and Parashuram in the film.

The makers have not yet revealed the look of Lord Hanuman in the film. Actor Sunny Deol is playing the role of Hanuman. Consequently, the audience is now eagerly awaiting his first look in the film.
