Priyanka Chopra To Appear In Mira Nair’s ‘Amri’; Jaideep Ahlawat Cast In The Role Of Her Father

Mira Nair, who began her directorial career with documentary films, is now bringing a new feature film to the screen. Titled ‘Amri,’ the movie will feature a host of actors including Priyanka Chopra and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles.

‘Amri’ Star Cast:

In Mira Nair’s new film ‘Amri,’ Anjali Sivaraman will play the lead role of Amrita Sher-Gil. Emily Watson will portray her mother, Marie-Antoinette. Jaideep Ahlawat will appear in the character of her father, Umrao Singh Sher-Gil. Christian Schwochow will be seen as Victor Egan. Anjana Vasan will appear as Indira Sher-Gil, and Jim Sarbh as Karl Khandalavala. In addition to this ensemble, Priyanka Chopra will be seen in the role of Madame Ajuri. Priyanka Chopra also serves as an executive producer on the film. Mira Nair recently unveiled the first look of her new film, ‘Amri,’ via an Instagram Story.

Mira Nair’s Perspective On ‘Amri’:

Amrita Sher-Gil’s art has deeply influenced Mira Nair. Mira stated, “‘Amri’ is inspired by the art of Amrita Sher-Gil. She received excellent training in Europe and subsequently captured the soul of India within her paintings. The boldness of her palette and her unique approach to portraying ordinary people have always captivated me.”

Amrita Sher-Gil’s Paintings:

In 2027, major exhibitions of Amrita Sher-Gil’s paintings are scheduled to be held across the globe. These exhibitions will commence in Paris and travel through Los Angeles and Doha, culminating in New Delhi. There are also plans to establish a permanent exhibition of her works in Delhi.
