Panjab University Discontinues PUMEET Engineering Lateral Entry Exam

In a significant administrative move, Panjab University has decided to discontinue PUMEET (Panjab University Migration Engineering Entrance Test) the entrance examination conducted for lateral entry (direct admission) into its engineering programs. According to the PU administration, this decision will come into effect starting from the academic session 2026-27.

An official notification issued by PU states that, due to administrative reasons, the admission process through PUMEET will no longer be continued. This decision will have a direct impact on candidates who were planning to seek direct admission into the second year of B.E. or B.Tech programs following their diploma studies. Every year, a large number of candidates appeared for the PUMEET examination.

Consequently, this decision may create a situation of confusion among students. However, the university administration has indicated that alternative arrangements for the admission process may be considered, and an announcement regarding this is expected shortly.
