
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann flagged off 508 Emergency Response Vehicles in Sangrur to strengthen grassroots level policing across the state. He stated that the Punjab government will now provide police assistance within just six minutes modeled after developed nations such as the United States and Europe.
Equipped with state of the art technology, these vehicles will be deployed across all 28 police districts under the ‘Dial 112’ service, ensuring immediate assistance during emergency situations. This initiative marks a significant step towards rapid and technology-driven law enforcement.
Investment Of ₹327 Crore: Chief Minister
CM Mann noted that over the past four years, an investment of ₹327.70 crore has been made in police vehicles; this has not only modernized the police force but has also strengthened law and order within the state.
Concurrently, strict action has been taken against drug traffickers. He emphasized that improved security boosts investor confidence a fact clearly exemplified by the investment currently being made by Tata Steel to establish its second largest plant in Punjab.
Punjab Police Receives 508 New Bolero Vehicles
Speaking on the modernization of the police force, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that 508 new Bolero vehicles are being flagged off as part of the Emergency Response Vehicle initiative. With this addition, the total number of vehicles in the ‘Dial 112’ fleet has risen to 764.
All these vehicles are equipped with modern technologies such as GPS trackers, dash cameras, and mobile data systems. Highlighting the improved efficiency of the system, he stated that the ‘Dial 112’ service receives approximately 15,000 calls daily; of these, vehicles are immediately dispatched in response to about 1,500 calls, and the average response time has been successfully reduced from 30–45 minutes to just 13–14 minutes.
The Chief Minister stated that previous governments had allocated very meager funds for police welfare, whereas the current government has invested ₹327.69 crore over four years, procuring 2,904 new vehicles since 2022. He added that, as a result, every police station now has at least one new vehicle at its disposal.
Taking Aim At The Drug Menace: CM Mann
Addressing a gathering in Sangrur, the Chief Minister asserted that, as a final measure to completely eradicate the scourge of drugs from Punjab, it is imperative to socially boycott those involved in the drug trade. He emphasized that absolutely no leniency should be shown towards those who have ruined generations. Such elements must be taught a lesson, and their social ostracization will play a pivotal role in extricating Punjab from the quagmire of drugs.
