1,000 Type-2 Electric Buses To Be Procured In Himachal

In a move aimed at environmental conservation and pollution reduction in Himachal Pradesh, 1,000 Type-2 electric buses are set to be procured. The acquisition of these buses will enable the modernization and eco-friendly transformation of public transportation within the state. These buses will be purchased by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). The Himachal Pradesh government has made budgetary provisions for the procurement of these buses in the budget presented on March 21. Notably, the procurement process for 297 electric buses is already currently underway in the state. Once these buses hit the roads, they will not only provide passengers with a comfortable travel experience but also lead to a significant reduction in the state’s carbon footprint.

To ensure the smooth operation of these electric buses, charging stations will be established at 80 locations across the state. Work on the charging stations has reached an advanced stage at 34 of these locations, while construction is also progressing rapidly at the remaining sites. The introduction of electric buses in this hilly state is expected to benefit both tourism and local transportation, proving to be a quieter, more economical, and environmentally friendly alternative compared to diesel buses.

Reduced Fuel Expenditure

The operation of electric buses will result in reduced expenditure on fuel and help bring pollution under control. Furthermore, this initiative will boost the green transportation ecosystem within the state, thereby facilitating environmental conservation while simultaneously providing the public with improved public transport facilities.
