Nora Distances Herself From ‘Sarke Chunar’ Controversy

The song ‘Sarke Chunar’ from the Kannada film *KD* has landed in controversy. Nora Fatehi performed a dance sequence for this track. Released on YouTube just two days ago, the song sparked a controversy almost immediately upon its debut. Following the backlash, the filmmakers have removed the song from social media platforms. Nora Fatehi, for her part, has completely distanced herself from the dispute.
What Does Nora’s Post Say?
In a social media post featuring a video of herself, Nora Fatehi addressed the issue. She wrote, “I would absolutely not want anyone to think that I endorse this song. Thank you for your strong reactions; it is precisely because of this pressure that the filmmakers have removed it.” She further added, “I would also request that you all stop sharing this song, as you are unnecessarily giving it a platform. I have noticed that some of you are attempting to use this situation as an opportunity to attack my character. This is truly unfortunate.”
Unaware Of The Song’s Existence
She continued, “I had absolutely no knowledge regarding this Hindi version of the song. I did not perform in it, nor was any permission sought to use my image in conjunction with it.” It is worth noting that the original version of this song was filmed in Kannada three years ago.
The Lyricist Distances Himself
It is also pertinent to mention that following the controversy surrounding the track, its lyricist, Rakib Alam, has also distanced himself from the dispute. He stated that he had no desire to write the song; rather, he merely translated the original Kannada lyrics word-for-word at the director’s behest.
Debut Song Sparks Controversy
The song was sung by Mangli, a prominent singer from the South Indian music industry. This track marked her debut in Hindi-language music; however, her very first release has unfortunately become embroiled in controversy.
