Police Issues Special Advisory On Amarnath Yatra

Annual Amarnath Yatra To Begin From July 3

Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued a detailed public advisory for the smooth and safe conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra 2026 to be held from July 3 to August 28.

In this, pilgrims, tourists and the general public have been appealed to strictly follow the traffic rules and safety guidelines. According to this advisory, issued keeping in mind the safety of pilgrims and tourists, the movement of general traffic through the Navyug Tunnel has been banned at specified times during the yatra period.

According to the advisory, general vehicles going from Kashmir to Jammu will not be allowed to cross the Navyug Tunnel before 11:30 am every day. Similarly, vehicles going from Jammu to Kashmir will not be allowed to cross the tunnel after 3:00 pm.

The police have also announced specific cut-off times for vehicles going to different places at different places in the Kashmir Valley. The cut-off time for vehicles going from Mir Bazar to Srinagar and Anantnag will be 4:00 pm, while vehicles going to the Navyug Tunnel will have to cross it before 5:00 pm.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has advised tourists and pilgrims to plan their journey well in advance. Start your journey to Kashmir before the cut-off time and allow sufficient time for security checks, weather delays and traffic rules.

Let us tell you that the 57-day Amarnath Yatra will begin from July 3. The yatra will be run through two routes. It includes the traditional 48 km long Nunwan-Pahalgam route and the shorter but more rocky and difficult 14 km long Baltal route. The yatra will conclude on August 28 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
