Kewal Dhillon, the newly appointed President of the Punjab BJP, assumed office at the BJP headquarters in Chandigarh. Speaking on the occasion, Kewal Dhillon stated that the party would move forward unitedly in Punjab to realize the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Support of All, Development for All).
He asserted that if any individual in the state attempts to mistreat or intimidate any BJP worker or leader, they will not be spared. “Our workers are our strength, and I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with every single one of them,” he declared. He added that, alongside the urban population, the people of the villages have now also made up their minds to ensure a BJP victory in Punjab this time around. The party will function with complete unity across the state, with the ultimate goal of reaching out to every Punjabi.
The event was attended by Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, former State President Sunil Jakhar, Working President Ashwani Sharma, Rajya Sabha MPs Ashok Mittal and Vikramjit Singh Sahney, BJP General Secretaries Anil Sareen and Suraj Prakash, former Minister Manoranjan Kalia, MLA Jangilal Mahajan, National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, Preneet Kaur, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, and CM Bhagwant Mann’s cousin, Gyan Singh Mann. The program commenced with the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’.
Congratulating Dhillon, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini remarked that following Bengal, Punjab is now the BJP’s next target. During his address, the auditorium resonated with chants of ‘Bole So Nihal’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Preneet Kaur emphasized that to conquer Punjab, everyone must march forward together in unity.
Bittu Calls For A ‘Double-Engine’ Government In Punjab
Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu stated that the BJP faces no dearth of capable leaders. He noted that it was precisely due to the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that their Rajya Sabha MPs chose to leave the party and join the BJP. He highlighted that the BJP is a party that elevated even a defeated leader like himself to the position of a Union Minister. He urged all party workers to gear up, go door-to-door, and seek support for the BJP. “We must work as soldiers of Modi,” he said, emphasizing the need for a ‘double-engine’ government in Punjab. BJP Acting President Ashwani Sharma stated that, in the past, people in Punjab would not even open their doors upon seeing a BJP worker; yet today, those very same Punjabis are eager to entrust the reins of state power to the BJP.
National General Secretary Tarun Chugh remarked that the countdown to the exit of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has now begun. Law and order in the state has completely collapsed, and the entire state of Punjab is currently engulfed in an atmosphere of fear. He asserted that the war against drugs would only be successful if, alongside tightening the noose around drug traffickers, all political leaders also undergo a dope test. All BJP leaders are ready to undergo such tests; leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party and other political parties must also step forward to do the same.
Central Secretary Says: Deploy The Army Of Workers Into The Field
Central Secretary Narendra Raina noted that the party has a proven track record: in states where the BJP’s vote share reaches approximately 18% or 19%, the party invariably goes on to form the government. In 2024, the BJP’s vote share in Punjab stood at 18.54%. The central leadership asserts that, this time around, the BJP will indeed form the government in Punjab an outcome for which the Punjabi people are waiting with great anticipation. He further stated that the Congress party ruled the country by pitting Hindus and Sikhs against one another, while the Aam Aadmi Party engaged in politics through deception; the BJP, however, practices politics centered on the issues that matter to the common people. Offering counsel to Dhillon, he emphasized that time is running short; the new President must swiftly constitute his teams and deploy an army of BJP workers into the field.
Jakhar Says: BJP Has Come To Win The Hearts Of Punjabis
Former President Sunil Jakhar observed that the BJP has now successfully strengthened its foothold even in the rural areas of Punjab. The ISI had sought to sow discord and hatred between Hindus and Sikhs in Punjab; however, by standing guard over the state, the BJP ensured that such a divisive agenda would not succeed. The BJP has come to Punjab with the specific objective of winning the hearts of its people; therefore, it is imperative to ensure that the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony between Hindus and Sikhs in the state remain intact and are not allowed to deteriorate.
Other political parties stand poised to dismantle this cherished brotherhood between Sikhs and Hindus; the BJP, however, sees only the Punjabi united and undivided. This is the land of Gurus, Pirs, and Prophets; therefore, we must proceed with great caution in the upcoming elections. No one can view Punjab through the divisive lens of caste. The very existence of parties that seek to divide Punjab will be wiped out. Many leaders are sowing the seeds of the poison of casteism; the BJP serves as the antidote to this poison.
