India has won the T20 World Cup 2026 title by defeating New Zealand. Let us tell you that Team India has won the T20 World Cup title for the third time by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs. The final match of the T20 World Cup 2026 between India and New Zealand was played today, Sunday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Where New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and decided to bowl first. After which, batting first after losing the toss, Team India scored 255 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs and set a target of 256 runs in front of New Zealand. Chasing the target of 256 runs, the New Zealand team was bundled out for 159 runs in 19 overs.
For India, Sanju Samson scored 89 runs in 46 balls. Samson has become the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup final. Samson broke the record of 85 runs of Marlon Samuels of West Indies. Apart from this, Abhishek Sharma scored 52 and Ishan Kishan scored 54 runs for Team India. Jimmy Neesham took 3 wickets for New Zealand.
It is noteworthy that India has previously won the World Cup twice in 2007 and 2024, West Indies in 2012 and 2016, England in 2010 and 2022. But now after winning the 2026 match, India is the only country to become the T20 World Cup champion three times.
