135-Kilometer-Long KMP Expressway To Be Developed On The Singapore Model

Haryana’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Rao Narbir Singh, stated that the approximately 135-kilometer-long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway will serve as a pivotal foundation for the state’s industrial development and play a crucial role in realizing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’. He informed that, keeping in mind the projected population for the year 2031, the government has constituted the Panchgram Development Authority with the objective of developing five new cities on both sides of the KMP Expressway. This expressway will be developed along the lines of the Singapore model, thereby transforming this region into a hub of modern urbanization and industrial advancement.
The Industries Minister remarked that the National Capital Region (NCR) holds immense significance within Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047,’ and the KMP Expressway will provide robust connectivity and infrastructure support in this endeavor. With this in mind, the Haryana government has introduced necessary amendments to its industrial policy to provide fresh impetus to investment, employment generation, and infrastructure development.
He clarified that the primary objective of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) should not be limited merely to revenue generation, but rather to providing superior and expedited services, along with a conducive environment, to industrialists. Rao Narbir Singh further noted that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had announced the establishment of 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) to accelerate industrial growth by the year 2030. Of these, five IMTs have already received approval, and their development is currently underway.
He informed that, out of the 10 proposed IMTs, three will be developed within the National Capital Region, with the KMP Expressway serving as their central axis. Concurrently, the five new cities will emerge as key attractions of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and prove instrumental in alleviating the mounting population pressure on Delhi.
The Industries Minister concluded by stating that Haryana, historically a pioneer of the Green Revolution, has now carved a distinct global identity for itself by establishing Gurugram as a premier IT hub. In the times to come, as new IMTs are developed, Haryana will lead the country’s industrial revolution. He stated that, geographically, Haryana is connected to Delhi on three sides; furthermore, with IGI Airport and Jewar Airport being accessible within approximately 30 minutes, this region has become extremely attractive to investors from both within the country and abroad.
