Indian Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver At Commonwealth Games

Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won silver at the Commonwealth Games with a throw of 85.83 metres. Fellow Indian Yashvir Singh won bronze with a personal best of 85.41 metres. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage won gold with a throw of 89.75 metres.

On the eighth day of the Games in Glasgow, India won a total of six medals, including two gold, two silver and two bronze. In judo, Asmita Dey won India’s first gold medal in the history of the Games. Fifteen minutes later, Harsh Singh won the second gold medal, while Yamini Maurya won the silver.

In athletics, Tejaswin Shankar created history by winning a bronze medal in the decathlon event; he became the first Indian to win a medal in this event at the Commonwealth Games. India is ranked 10th in the medal tally, having won a total of 23 medals, including 5 gold, 12 silver and 6 bronze.
