SGPC Hands Over Records To Investigation Team For The Fourth Time At Its Sub-Office

The records requested by the SGPC from time to time have been submitted to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Punjab govt. on the matter related to 328 holy Veers of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with complete transparency and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is fully cooperating with the SIT in this matter.
This was revealed today by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami while addressing the media after handing over copies of the documents sought to the SIT at the sub-office of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Chandigarh.
Advocate Dhami said that the investigation of this matter related to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been carried out under the supervision of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is also providing support to the investigation team formed by the government as per the directions of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that after registering an FIR on December 7, 2025 in the case of 328 holy Birs, the investigation team first received a letter from the SGPC on January 13, 2026 and the SGPC handed over the requested records to the investigation team at the sub-office in Chandigarh on January 29, 2026. After this, a letter was received again on February 17, 2026, in which the information requested regarding 8 items was provided to the investigation team on March 11, 2026.
Similarly, a third letter was sent by the investigation team on April 3, 2026, through which the records regarding 18 items requested were handed over to the investigation team on April 27, 2026. The recovery of all these records has also been taken as arrears. He said that even today, copies of the records related to bill books and ledgers requested by the investigation team have been handed over to them.
The SGPC President said that the investigation team’s filing of this affidavit in the court that the SGPC is not cooperating is a complete lie. He said that we also have the video record of the documents submitted. If the investigation team continues to make false statements in the court, then these videos and records will be made public. He said that the SGPC has submitted the certified copies of the records to the investigation team and if the court orders, the original record will also be presented in the court.
Advocate Dhami said that the SGPC is fully cooperating in the matter related to 328 holy Birs, but no cooperation will be provided regarding the information that is being sought by the investigation team separately from this matter. He said that a letter has been written to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib in this regard and whatever order he gives, the next strategy will be drawn up after considering it in the meeting of the internal committee.
He said that even after the full cooperation being provided by the Shiromani Committee, if the investigation team does not stop asking for unnecessary information outside the case and making false statements in the court about the non-cooperation of the Shiromani Committee, then we will be forced to stop the cooperation.
