Residents of Delhi-NCR have received significant relief amidst the deepening fuel crisis caused by a shortage of LPG cylinders. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has introduced an attractive scheme for those opting for a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection or seeking to reactivate an old one.
Customers booking a new connection or recharging/activating an old one will receive a discount of ₹500 on their first bill. This scheme applies to both domestic and commercial connections, aiming to encourage people to switch to the clean fuel PNG and reduce their dependence on LPG.
Scheme Launched Following Central Directives
A company official stated that this scheme was launched following directives and approval from the Central Government, with the objective of raising public awareness regarding clean fuels. IGL has once again clarified that the supply of domestic PNG remains completely smooth and uninterrupted, and will not be disrupted under any circumstances. This move is a significant step toward promoting alternative fuels amidst the ongoing LPG crisis.
Permission Granted For The Use Of Wood
Earlier, in light of the LPG crisis in Delhi-NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had taken a major decision. Providing significant relief to industries, hotels, and restaurants, the Commission granted permission for the use of ‘alternative fuels,’ such as wood. This exemption will remain in effect for a period of one month or until further orders are issued, whichever comes first.
