Heavy Snowfall At Badrinath Dham; Three Feet Of Snow Accumulates
Workers Relocated to Safe Areas

For the past two days, a spell of rain and snowfall has persisted in the high altitude Himalayan regions of Chamolia border district in Uttarakhand. At Badrinath Dham, revered as ‘Bhu-Baikunth’, more than three feet of snow has accumulated.
Power Supply Disrupted By Snowfall
In view of the prevailing conditions, the administration has relocated the engineers, staff, and laborers engaged in the reconstruction works under the Master Plan to safer locations. Meanwhile, heavy snowfall has also caused a complete disruption of the power supply system at Badrinath Dham.
Administration Issues Safety Alert
Chandrashekhar Vashishth, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Joshimath, stated that as a precautionary safety measure laborers residing in temporary structures and tents have been immediately recalled to Pandukeshwar, Govindghat, and Joshimath. Conversely, individuals residing in permanent structures have been instructed to remain vigilant and stay put in their current locations.
Access To The Shrine Suspended
Given the continuous snowfall, the administration has temporarily suspended all permissions for travel to Badrinath Dham. According to the SDM, decisions regarding movement and construction activities will be taken only after weather conditions normalize and the snowfall ceases.
Routes Blocked By Snowfall
The administration was making efforts to relocate everyone to safe areas; however, the route was blocked due to heavy snowfall in the Kanchan Ganga region, situated just short of Badrinath Dham. Consequently, the staff and laborers had to be sent back to Badrinath. Nevertheless, everyone remains safe.
