Rapper Bad Bunny Wins First Emmy Award For Super Bowl Halftime Show
Rapper Bad Bunny has won his first Emmy Award for the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. The halftime show won for directing, lighting design, musical direction, sound mixing, choreography and technical direction, while The Traitors won for hosting, directing, picture editing, cinematography and production design, according to a report by ‘Deadline’.
The awards kicked off this weekend with the first back-to-back ceremonies at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. According to ‘Deadline’, the double bill of awards, formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys, will take place on September 14 at the Television Primetime Emmys on NBC and Peacock. The Apple Music Super Bowl LX halftime show starring Bad Bunny, The Traitors and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert were among the big winners.
In solo categories, Jimmy Kimmel was honored as best game show host, Octavia Spencer won for narrating The Lost Women of Alaska, and Mariska Hargitay took home Emmys for best documentary and directing for My Mom Jane. She is also set to host the Primetime Emmys next Monday.
“I can’t believe I’m getting to do all these cool things,” Mariska Hargitay said. Mariska Hargitay has already won an Emmy for Law & Order: SVU. It was a crack about how the Television Academy has revived the long-running Creative Arts Emmys name for Emmys Night 1 and Night 2. “The Emmys are spread over three great nights,” said Wanda Sykes. “It’s a little bit like the friend who celebrates their birthday month because they love margaritas.”
A total of 102 awards will be given out in a variety of categories for this year’s Emmy nominees at the ceremonies this weekend. It will focus on guest stars, supporting actor or actress in a limited series, and writing for a limited series.
