Will Meta Rules Change on Instagram And Facebook?

Usage Will Be Banned From 12 Midnight To 6 Am!

Meta, one of the world’s largest social media companies, has agreed to pay a hefty fine and compensation to end the allegations of child addiction on its platforms Instagram and Facebook. US states had accused Meta of deliberately designing its features in such a way that children and teenagers could get addicted to social media.

Let us tell you that an agreement has now been reached to end this major lawsuit related to the safety of children and teenagers in the US. Meta will pay about $ 17 billion in this case and will make several major changes to its apps for children. These include a default limit of two hours a day on Facebook and Instagram combined and a ban on usage from 12 midnight to 6 am.

The attorney generals of several US states sued Meta in 2023. It was alleged that the company had created features in Facebook and Instagram that increased the use of these apps by children and teenagers more than necessary. The states said that this could harm the mental and physical health of children. The company was also accused of misleading the public and parents about these dangers.

According to the information received, the biggest change will now be for users under the age of 18. There will be a default limit of two hours per day for minors on Facebook and Instagram combined. Parental permission will be required to remove this. The time spent on both apps will be counted towards this total limit.

Apart from this, teenagers will not be able to use Facebook and Instagram from 12 midnight to 6 am. Notifications will be muted by default from 8 am to 3 pm. However, direct messages and important alerts related to security will continue to come.
