Asian Champions Trophy To Kick Off In Jalandhar On October 27
Six Teams, Including India And Pakistan, To Participate
The ‘Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026’ will commence in Jalandhar on October 27, with the final match scheduled to be played in Mohali on November 5. Teams from India, Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, China, and Korea will participate in the tournament, while Oman and Bangladesh have been designated as reserve teams. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced this today.
The tournament logo was also unveiled during the event, which was attended by Hockey India players. The government has allocated a budget of ₹25.40 crore for the event. Entry for spectators will be free throughout the tournament, and the government will ensure all necessary arrangements. Punjab will now field teams in both the men’s and women’s categories of the ‘Hockey India League’. Participating athletes will be introduced to Punjab’s sports industry and will visit sports facilities and manufacturing centers. They will also enjoy traditional Punjabi cuisine. Tours of Amritsar, the Wagah Border, and Jallianwala Bagh will be organized for them. The aim is to provide the athletes with a comprehensive experience of Punjab’s culture and heritage.
