Kamal Chauhan Appointed President of the Punjab Unit of the All India Gurjar Mahasabha
Drug De-addiction Awareness Campaign to Kick Off from Ludhiana

All India Gurjar Mahasabha has announced the new executive committee for the state of Punjab. Bachchu Singh Bainsla, National General Secretary of the All India Gurjar Mahasabha, today handed over the command of the state unit to Kamal Chauhan under the new organizational structure. On this occasion, Sohan Lal Chechi was appointed as the Coordinator. Hundreds of members of the Gurjar community from nearly every city in Punjab attended the event, demonstrating the unity of the community.
Bachchu Singh Bainsla, National General Secretary of the All India Gurjar Mahasabha, stated that the All India Gurjar Mahasabha is the oldest and most prestigious institution of the Gurjar community, having existed since 1908. It works actively across the country for the education, social awareness, cultural preservation, and organizational development of the Gurjar community. Over time, the organization has reinforced its historic role by undertaking various initiatives for the welfare of the community.
He described the Mahasabha as a dedicated social and philanthropic organization that works continuously towards education, social upliftment, public service, and the holistic development of society. He further noted that the institution regularly conducts numerous programs related to educational assistance, aid for economically weaker and needy families, social awareness campaigns, and the guidance and development of the youth. The Gurjar community is a patriotic and revolutionary community; for the sake of the country’s independence, they first fought against the Mughals and later against the British, which forced them to take refuge in the forests. This is the reason why the Gurjar community remained disconnected from the mainstream of society.
Bachchu Singh Bainsla expressed that Kamal Chauhan’s appointment would strengthen the organization within the community both at the national and state levels and would provide a significant boost to the community’s progress.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamal Chauhan affirmed that he would discharge the responsibility entrusted to him by the All India Gurjar Mahasabha with complete dedication and integrity, and would work for the interests of the community across the country and the state. He expressed his gratitude to the Patron of the Mahasabha, the President of the National Mahasabha, and the entire executive committee for his appointment.
Kamal Chauhan further added that the Mahasabha is already undertaking extensive work in the field of education. Furthermore, efforts are also underway to make both the nation and the state free from drugs. He stated that the Gurjar community would organize ‘Drug-Free Journeys’ (Nasha Mukti Yatras) across the entire state to raise awareness among the youth regarding the menace of drugs. This campaign is set to commence in the industrial city of Ludhiana.
Kamal Chauhan remarked that, alongside fostering social awareness, the Gurjar community has also staked a strong claim within the political landscape of Punjab. Leaders of the Mahasabha have asserted that the Gurjar community constitutes approximately 9 percent of Punjab’s population, representing a significant vote bank. The community is currently gearing up to play a decisive role in the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
The State President stated that leaders and activists of the community would now go from village to village to mobilize and unite their people. During the elections, the organization intends to demonstrate its full strength, and it will openly announce from public platforms which political party or candidate it chooses to support. The organization firmly believes that only by breaking free from drug addiction can the youth truly become self-reliant and play a pivotal role in the political and economic development of both the community and the state.
