MBBS And PG Seats In Chandigarh Likely To Increase By 50 Each

Decision Expected Within 10 Days, Formal Request Already Sent To The Centre

Students from Chandigarh and surrounding areas may soon receive good news. There is a possibility of adding 50 MBBS and 50 PG seats in Chandigarh, with a decision expected within the next 10 days.

This prospect emerged following a meeting between a BJP delegation and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the expansion of medical education in Chandigarh, the potential for introducing 50 new seats each for MBBS and PG courses, and various issues related to the city’s development.

The delegation emphasized to the Administrator the need to strengthen healthcare services and medical education in Chandigarh to provide more opportunities for local students and further bolster the city’s status as a prominent educational hub.

A formal request to increase the seats by 50 in each category has already been submitted to the Central Government in writing, and there is now a strong likelihood that this demand will be met soon.

Describing the meeting as highly positive, BJP State President Jitender Pal Malhotra stated that Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria listened to all the issues seriously and assured that necessary directives would be issued to the concerned officials.

He added that a significant decision regarding the addition of 50 new MBBS and 50 PG seats in Chandigarh is likely within the next 10 days, which would lead to a major expansion in the field of medical education.
