Two-Day 'Surya Kiran' Air Show

The thrill of an air show awaits visitors at the popular tourist destination, Sukhna Lake, on March 27 and 28. The administration has intensified preparations for the civil air show featuring the ‘Surya Kiran’ Aerobatic Team. In this regard, a review meeting, presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nishant Kumar Yadav. Officials from the Indian Air Force, the Police Department, the Municipal Corporation, the Health Department, Fire Services, and other relevant agencies participated in the meeting, presenting a detailed blueprint of the event’s preparations. An entry fee of ₹100 has been set for those wishing to watch the show. Entry passes will be available on the ‘Chandigarh Tourism’ app.

The DC described the air show as a moment of pride for Chandigarh. He stated that this event would not only reinforce the city’s identity but also attract a large number of tourists. To manage crowds and traffic, the entry of private vehicles will be restricted in the vicinity of Sukhna Lake. Seven designated pickup and drop-off points will be established across the city. The final pickup time has been scheduled for 9:00 AM.

The DC placed special emphasis on ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent any untoward incidents. During the meeting, key topics such as crowd management, traffic control, parking arrangements, emergency services, medical facilities, and sanitation were discussed in detail. All departments were directed to formulate their action plans and mobilize adequate resources within the stipulated timelines.

The meeting also featured detailed discussions with the Air Force regarding airspace management, technical readiness, and rehearsal schedules. Meanwhile, the Police Department was instructed to implement traffic and parking arrangements that ensure minimal inconvenience to the public. Keeping public convenience in mind, the administration announced that entry to the air show would be strictly via passes. These passes will be available on the ‘Chandigarh Tourism’ app starting March 24, at a cost of ₹100 per person. The capacity of the venue has been limited to 10,000 spectators per day.
