“As An Actor, I Try To Bring Something New To The Character Every Time” – Saif Ali Khan

Actor Saif Ali Khan is currently making headlines for his upcoming Netflix film, Kartavya. Amidst his busy promotional schedule, the actor remarked that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. During the conversation, Saif not only reacted to his viral 25-year-old clip where he says “I play guitar,” but also found the clip highly amusing.
When his co-stars Rasika Dugal and Maniesh Chaudhary were asked if Saif delivers one-liners on set, Rasika praised his comic timing, saying, “All the time! He is one of those actors who loves to have fun constantly.” Saif responded, “I don’t take myself too seriously. Once we nail a scene, we can have some fun.” During the chat, he was reminded of an interview from about 25 years ago on Doordarshan, in which he is heard saying, “I play guitar.”
This clip frequently goes viral on social media even today. Smiling, Saif replied, “I’ve seen that clip. It’s funny hilarious, actually. That clip has a bit of everything.” He added that the interview contained several things that would be considered illegal today and likely were illegal back then, too. In that same old interview, Saif had also compared his favorite actresses, Madhubala and Zeenat Aman. Commenting on this, Saif said, “Regarding the difference between them… I don’t know what that difference was.
It’s a very strange thing.” While promoting *Kartavya*, Saif also spoke about his work. He noted that while there is an abundance of crime dramas these days, he strives to bring something fresh to his character every time. Saif explained, “For me, the real thing is to play the character of the person, not just the cop.” “Every person is different.” He also added that if the same task has to be performed again, the director and producer work together to create a different atmosphere.
