Punjab Approves ‘Chief Minister Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’

Women To Receive ₹1,000 Per Month

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann made a historic announcement for women in the state on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The Chief Minister stated that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has fulfilled its biggest election promise by launching the ‘Chief Minister Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’. Under this scheme, women above 18 years of age in the state will receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month, while for women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, the amount will be ₹1,500 per month. The government has made a special provision of ₹9,300 crore in the budget for this ambitious scheme.

Registration Process To Begin On Baisakhi

Chief Minister Mann shared that the registration process to avail the benefits of this scheme will begin on April 13 (Baisakhi). Special camps will be set up across the state to ensure its effective implementation. He clarified that there are no stringent conditions imposed on this scheme, ensuring that every eligible mother, sister, and daughter in the state can benefit from it. The Chief Minister described it as a milestone towards women’s financial independence and empowerment.

A Budget Fulfilling All Guarantees

Describing the state government’s budget as an “affidavit,” the Chief Minister said that the budget presented by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema is a testament to their commitment to the common man. He said that along with free electricity, free bus travel, and health insurance up to ₹10 lakh, this monthly cash assistance will further empower women socially and economically. Taking a dig at previous governments, Mann said that while previous budgets were limited to mere paperwork and poetic announcements, the current government is working honestly.

Special Emphasis On Education, Health, And Sports

The budget focuses not only on social security but also on infrastructure. The education budget has been increased by 7 percent, and ₹1,791 crore has been allocated to strengthen sports infrastructure. The Chief Minister said that promoting sports will channel the energy of youth in a positive direction, which will help in the fight against drug addiction. He emphasized that if the intention is clear, there is never a shortage of funds, and this is why excellent schools, hospitals, and Mohalla Clinics are being built in Punjab today.

Corruption-Free Governance And Financial Management

Responding to questions from opposition parties, the Chief Minister said that the money saved by eliminating leakages and bribery from the system is being directly used in public welfare schemes. He said that whether it is purchasing a thermal power plant or providing canal water to farmers, the government is taking every step for the prosperity of Punjab. He concluded by reiterating that the sole objective of the AAP government is to ensure the progress of the state and the welfare of the common man.
