Saurabh Duggal Re Elected As Press Club President

Umesh Sharma Becomes Senior Vice President

In the annual elections held at the Chandigarh Press Club, a fierce contest ensued right up to the end between the Sura Panel and the Duggal Panel. Amidst this thrilling battle, Saurabh Duggal once again secured victory for the post of President. He defeated Sura by a margin of 37 votes, securing a total of 330 votes. Ajay Sura received 293 votes. However, the vote counting began with an exciting lead for the Sura Panel.

In this year’s Chandigarh Press Club elections, there was a total electorate of 735 members, out of which 626 votes were cast. Umesh Sharma of the Duggal Panel was elected as Senior Vice President. Sharma received 335 votes, while his rival, Mukesh Atwal, secured 285 votes. For the post of Vice President-2, Ajay Jalandhari emerged victorious with 319 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Dushyant Pundir, who received 302 votes.

From the Sura Panel, Jagtar Singh Bhullar was declared the winner for the post of Treasurer by a margin of just one vote, while Brijendra Gaud won the post of Joint Secretary-2 by a margin of six votes. For the Vice President-1 (Women’s Seat), Aarti Agnihotri secured the victory, defeating her closest rival, Neha Sharma.

In the voting for the Treasurer’s post, Jagtar Bhullar received 310 votes, while Amarjit was limited to 309 votes falling short by a single vote and 7 votes were declared invalid. Similarly, for the post of Joint Secretary-2, Brijendra Gaud emerged victorious with 314 votes, while Sheetal Dadwal received 308 votes, and 4 votes were declared invalid.

For the post of Joint Secretary-1, Pawan Tiwari took the lead; he secured victory with 319 votes, while his closest rival, Ashish Sharma, received 300 votes, and 7 votes were declared invalid. The contest for the post of Secretary remained a tough battle. Prabhat Katiyar had to settle for 326 votes, and Rahul Devesh for 297, while 3 votes were declared invalid. Meanwhile, Rajesh Dhal maintained the lead for the post of Secretary General; he received 311 votes, while his opponent, Dr. Joginder Singh, secured 308 votes.
