Sher-e-Punjab T20 League Starts In Mohali, Meet Hayer And CM Mann Present
The Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, being organized on the lines of IPL, has started at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, PCA Secretary MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and many dignitaries were present on this occasion. Teams of Punjab players who were part of the Indian team are also participating in this competition.
The teams of Amritsar and Mohali clashed in the first match. The first match of the league was played on Sunday between Amritsar Surma and Mohali Kings led by Abhishek Sharma. A total of 6 teams are participating in the tournament. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab has given many great players to Indian cricket. He said that currently 21 players from Punjab are playing in the IPL. 4 players from Punjab are also included in the Indian men’s cricket team.
These include captain Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar. Mann said that it is a matter of pride for the state that players from Punjab are captaining the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams. Shubman Gill is captaining the men’s team, and Harmanpreet Kaur is captaining the women’s team. The Chief Minister said that sports are the most effective weapon in the fight against drugs. The government is developing 3,100 playgrounds in the state to connect the youth with sports. He said that Punjab has kept the biggest budget ever for sports.
He said that this will give the young cricketers of Punjab an opportunity to play on a big stage, learn from experienced players and showcase their talent. The Chief Minister announced that the government will also organize Kheda Vantan Punjab Diyan Prat Hogi in Bathinda from September 5. He said that players from three generations will participate in this sports event.
Punjab Cricket Association President Amarjit Mehta said that ‘Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup’ will become the new face of Punjab cricket in the future. This tournament can provide many new star players to the country. He thanked the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for successfully organizing the tournament. Without their support, the league would not have been possible. Mehta said that the opening ceremony of the league was wonderful. Now, young players from Punjab have a big platform to showcase their talent to the world.
