Non-Bailable Warrant Issued Against DGP's Reader

A hearing regarding the alleged bribery case involving ₹20 lakh, linked to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, took place at the Special CBI Court in Chandigarh.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought a three-day remand for the intermediaries Vikas alias Vicky Goyal and his son, Raghav Goyal. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court sent the father-son duo to three-day CBI remand.

The court sent the third accused, driver Ankit Wadhwa, to 14 days of judicial custody. Appearing before the Special Court on behalf of the CBI, Public Prosecutor Narendra Singh stated that the prime accused in the case O.P. Rana, the Reader to the Punjab Vigilance DGP is currently absconding, and his arrest is absolutely essential.

The CBI has also secured the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against the accused, O.P. Rana, from the court. The CBI argued that it was Vikas Goyal and Raghav Goyal who had introduced the complainant, Amit Kumar, to O.P. Rana. A case regarding assets disproportionate to income was pending against the complainant with the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, and a bribe of ₹20 lakh had been demanded to settle the matter.
