The ongoing controversy over Diljit Dosanjh’s film “Sutlej” has not completely calmed down, and a controversy has arisen over the Punjabi film “Dastar”. A tourist who came to a multiplex in Trillium Mall in Amritsar accused the multiplex staff and manager of not allowing him to watch the film with his children, even though there are no adult scenes in the film. The tourist also said that films like “Dhurandhar” and “Animal” were shown everywhere, even on mobile phones and televisions.
When it came to films promoting Sikh culture, Sikh children were not allowed to watch the film. The tourist argued with the multiplex staff for a long time, seeking support from the Sikh audience and the staff present. However, everyone explained the rules to him. Then the man left without watching the film. A video of the incident was shared by the man on social media. The multiplex staff said that the film has been given an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). As per the rules, they cannot allow anyone below the age of 18 to watch the film. Hence, the man was stopped.
According to reports, Varinder Singh, a resident of Majitha Road in Amritsar, had gone to watch the film ‘Dastar’ at Trillion Mall on Tuesday night. He was accompanied by his wife and four children. A jeweller by profession and a social media influencer, Varinder Singh has four minor children. According to Varinder, when he asked for tickets for ‘Dastar’, the staff refused to give tickets to the children after seeing them.
They said that the film is adult and children should not watch it. Varinder Singh claims that he spoke to the makers of the film and asked them why it was called adult. The makers said that the film was made for children, but the board gave it an A certificate. Now, they have no answer as to why it was given an A certificate. “Whenever Sikh history is discussed, it is banned,” said Varinder Singh. “However, a film like Dhurandhar, which depicts so much violence, can be watched anywhere. Because the government has a role in it. I have received messages from many experts who have told me that there are no adult scenes in the film.”
