Sri Lanka Stripped Of Hosting Rights For The 2027 ICC Women’s Champions Trophy

Sri Lanka has been stripped of hosting rights for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy to be held in 2027. The decision on the new host country for this tournament to be played from February 14 to 28 will be taken in the upcoming ICC board meeting.

According to the information received, the ICC has taken this drastic step due to the increasing government interference in Sri Lankan cricket. Currently, Sri Lankan cricket is being run by a government-formed Transformation Committee. According to ICC rules, the operation of any member board should be independent and there should be no political or government interference in it.

Transformation Committee Secretary Prakash Schefter confirmed this news and said, ‘Yes, this tournament has been shifted out of Sri Lanka. It will be played at another venue, but it is not yet decided who will be the new host country. Let us tell you that the Women’s Champions Trophy is to be played in T-20 format from 14 to 28 February 2027. 6 teams will participate in it.
