The ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ has been launched in Punjab to provide financial assistance to women. The registration process for the scheme commenced on April 14.
Inaugurating the scheme in Jalandhar, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that women would begin receiving the financial honorarium from the very day the scheme is deemed effective. In the first phase, a pilot project will be launched across nine assembly constituencies: Adampur, Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Kotkapura, Batala, and Patiala Rural. The registration process for the remaining 108 constituencies across the state is scheduled to begin on May 15.
CM Bhagwant Mann assured women that there is no need to panic regarding delays in registration or any shortage of documents. He clarified that for women whose fingerprints do not match their Aadhaar records, accounts will be opened based on their photographs.
He appealed to women to actively participate in politics. Mann remarked that if a household cannot function without women, neither can the country. Manish Sisodia was also present at the event; he described the initiative as a major stride toward the economic independence of women. He further stated that this scheme represents a significant initiative aimed at realizing the dreams of Baba Saheb. The government asserts that this scheme will directly benefit lakhs of women and significantly bolster their economic empowerment.
