SIR In Haryana: Final List To Be Released On November 6

Potential Removal Of Lakhs Of Voter Entries

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Haryana is now in its final stage. The final electoral roll will be released on November 6. There is a possibility that some names may be removed from this list, or that there could be errors in names, addresses, or other details. However, voters need not panic. According to the Election Commission’s rules, even after the final list is published, eligible citizens can still apply to have their names added or their details corrected either by contacting a Booth Level Officer (BLO) or by using the Election Commission’s online portal.

Following the SIR process, notices were issued to 4.5 million (45 lakh) individuals in Haryana. After hearings, approximately 210,000 (2.10 lakh) of these were found to be ineligible. Additionally, 3.384 million (33.84 lakh) names had already been removed during the first phase. Based on current data, it is estimated that around 3.6 million (36 lakh) voters could be removed from the electoral roll.

Before the SIR process began, Haryana had a total of 20,655,221 registered voters. Consequently, a significant reduction in the number of voters is expected in the final list. Currently, there is no mechanism for an applicant to verify whether their name is included in the final electoral roll; individuals will have to wait until November 6. Those who find their names missing from the list should first verify their details.

If an eligible citizen has been left out, they may apply to have their name included by following the prescribed procedure. Similarly, errors in names or addresses can be corrected. If an eligible citizen’s name is missing from the final electoral roll, they can submit ‘Form 6’ to claim inclusion.

Furthermore, ‘Form 8’ must be used to correct errors in names or addresses, or to update details following a change of residence. Applications can be submitted online via the Election Commission’s portal, or with the assistance of the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), or Booth Level Officer (BLO).
