Earn From Home: Haryana Government To Provide Free Homestay Training To Youth

The Haryana government has decided to launch free homestay training for the youth to promote tourism-based self-employment. The Department of Skill Development and Industrial Training, operating under the Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, will conduct this training across all districts of the state. Applications have been invited from eligible youth aged 15 to 29 until August 16.

According to a government spokesperson, the initiative aims to provide a new source of income for rural and urban youth by enabling them to develop their homes into homestays. Given the growing tourism potential in the state, the youth will be trained in hospitality, hosting tourists, managing rooms and facilities, hygiene, online booking, customer service, and the practical aspects of homestay operations, thereby equipping them to start their own self-employment ventures.

Interested candidates can submit their applications at their respective district nodal ITIs between August 4 and August 16. Application forms, eligibility criteria, and other guidelines are available on the department’s website. The department’s decision regarding the selection process will be final. However, the notification issued by the government does not specify a target number of youths to be trained.

Similarly, no announcements have been made regarding financial assistance, loans, grants, certificates, or other incentives upon completion of the training. The government believes that the rising demand for homestays will create new local employment opportunities for the youth. This will particularly benefit young people in tourist destinations and rural areas, allowing them to earn additional income by integrating their homes with tourism activities.
