84.62 Percent Mapping Done During Pre-SIR

Chief Electoral Officer Punjab Anindita Mitra held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties of Punjab under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission of India in Punjab. During the meeting, she handed over a list of voters whose records have not been matched during pre-mapping to the representatives of recognized political parties of Punjab. She told those representatives that the list that has been handed over today is the data regarding votes not mapped during pre-mapping till May 27 and some of the voters may have been mapped.

Mitra appealed to the political parties to actively participate in the successful completion of SIR along with the Election Commission of India. He said that maximum efforts should be made to reach out to as many voters as possible before the door-to-door counting begins.

Clearing doubts regarding this process, the CEO said that even if a voter is left out of mapping during the pre-SIR campaign, there is no need for the voter to worry. In that case, the Election Officer will ask for some documents to verify the voter’s details.

Anindita Mitra said that in order to further expedite the pre-mapping process, special camps are being set up at all polling stations in the state of Punjab on June 7, where BLOs will assist in the pre-mapping process from 10 am to 4 pm.

She also appealed to the representatives to expedite the process of appointment of BLA-2 and said that the role of BLA-2 during SIR is very important, therefore all recognized political parties should make these appointments as soon as possible.

The Chief Electoral Officer also informed the representatives of political parties about the method of vote mapping by visiting the Election Commission website https://voters.eci.gov.in/.

Giving information on this occasion, Chief Electoral Officer Punjab Anindita Mitra said that the Election Commission of India has made a partial revision in the earlier announced program for special intensive revision of voter lists in the state of Punjab. She said that the draft of voter lists will be published on August 3. Similarly, the time for submitting objections and claims regarding voter lists has been extended from August 03 to September 02. The notice phase/objections and claims will be disposed of from August 03 to September 28. The Chief Electoral Officer said that the remaining time schedule has been kept by the Commission as May 14.

During the meeting, Edition CEO Amandeep Garg, Joint CEO Navneet Kaur Bal, Joint CEO Apart from Gurinder Singh Sodhi, from the recognized parties, Ferry Soft from Aam Aadmi Party, Jaswant Rai and Ajit Singh Bhaini from Bahujan Samaj Party, N.K. Verma from Bharatiya Janata Party, Sunil Kumar from Communist Party of India (Marxist), Captain Sandeep Sandhu and Hardeep Singh Kingra from Indian National Congress, Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler from Shiromani Akali Dal were present.
