To Hit Cinemas On December 4

The trailer for the upcoming film ‘Eetha’, starring Shraddha Kapoor, was released on Friday. In it, the actress portrays a character inspired by the renowned Lavani artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar.
The trailer begins by highlighting the protagonist’s internal struggle and self-doubt, a point at which she loses all hope. However, she eventually makes a comeback with a ‘Tamasha’ (traditional folk theatre) troupe, earning respect and the love of her fans along the way.
The trailer features fast-paced cuts of dance sequences, set to energetic music composed by the duo Ajay-Atul. Drawing upon her own Marathi cultural background, Shraddha delivers a powerful performance rooted in traditional folk rhythms. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Randeep Hooda, and Anant Joshi also play significant roles in this film.
The film is inspired by the life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a renowned folk artist, Lavani dancer, and Tamasha performer from Maharashtra. She hailed from a family of traditional Tamasha artists. From a very young age, she possessed a deep passion for singing, dancing, and acting. Thanks to her extraordinary talent, expressive performance style, and dedication, she became one of the most celebrated artists in Maharashtra.
She was known as “Tamasha Samragni” (the Queen of Tamasha). For her contributions to folk art, she received national-level recognition and a Presidential honor. Her life stands as an example of remarkable dedication, courage, and firm determination. Despite facing personal and financial hardships, she continued her work in preserving and promoting the traditional folk culture of Maharashtra.
She also worked for the welfare of her fellow Tamasha artists. In 2006, the Government of Maharashtra instituted the ‘Vithabai Narayangaonkar Lifetime Achievement Award’ in her memory, which is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the art of Tamasha. Produced by Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is set to be released in cinemas on December 4.
