Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has expressed his displeasure after allegedly failing to get his business class seat on an Air Canada flight. Posting on the social media platform X, Gippy claimed that although he had paid for business class, he was seated in economy class. He also questioned the attitude of the airline staff.
According to Gippy, he did not receive a satisfactory answer when he asked the staff for the reason behind the seat change. He claims he was initially told that the situation had already occurred and nothing could be done about it. Subsequently, he was told he could either take the flight or leave it.
Threatened With Removal For Seeking Assistance
Gippy wrote in his post that when he repeatedly questioned the matter, he was threatened with being removed from the aircraft instead of having his issue resolved. He clarified that he was not asking for any extra perks, but simply for the business class seat he had paid for. Gippy also noted that throughout the incident, the airline did not even offer a simple apology. He described his experience with Air Canada as extremely poor.
Air Canada Responds To The Post
Following Gippy’s post, a response was issued from Air Canada’s official X account. Expressing regret and apologizing for the incident, the airline asked Gippy to share his booking reference and full name(s) via a direct message (DM). The airline stated that it would look into the matter based on these details. However, Air Canada’s initial response did not clarify why Gippy was moved from business class to economy or the reason for the seat change.
Flight Was En Route From Toronto To New York
The flight mentioned by Gippy AC1504 is an Air Canada service flying from Toronto to New York. According to available flight details, this flight operates between Toronto’s Pearson International Airport and New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport. The scheduled flight on September 16 was set to depart from Toronto at 12:00 PM and arrive in Newark at 1:35 PM; an Airbus A320 aircraft was assigned to the flight.
According to Gippy Grewal’s post, the controversy stems from being assigned an economy seat despite having paid for business class, as well as the alleged attitude of the airline staff when the issue was raised. Air Canada has stated that it is investigating the matter.
