Actress Zoya Afroz is currently making headlines for her role in the web series Smuggling. She recently stated that the industry never discriminates based on religion. The actress recently attended a screening of the film “Gandhi Toss,” which features music composed by renowned composer A.R. Rahman.
During the screening, the actress spoke, completely rejecting A.R. Rahman’s “Kunal” statement, stating that despite her religion, she has never faced any discrimination based on religion in the film industry. Zoya said, “My personal experience has never been like this, and I hope it won’t be in the future. In our country, we celebrate unity and diversity. I believe we should always maintain this spirit.” Zoya further expressed her views on the social responsibility of films.
She said, “Films are a mirror of society; they show life as it is. If a film isn’t for children, it shouldn’t be shown to them. That’s why the certification system exists. I think it should remain that way.” Speaking of “Gandhi Toss,” the film explores the difference between seeing Gandhi’s picture on currency notes and his ideals. The story revolves around a young man struggling to find money. A thief enters her life, and this is where the story takes a new turn. The film questions society and values through satire.
