2027 World Cup Format

The ICC has chosen a completely different format for the 2027 World Cup. While the 2023 World Cup was played in a round-robin format, teams have been divided into groups this time. A total of 14 teams will participate. First, a ‘Super Series’ will be played, where teams will compete against each other; the winning team from the Super Series will qualify for the next stage. There are 12 teams involved here, divided into two groups.

After the group stage concludes, the ‘Super-7’ stage will take place, with three teams qualifying from each of the two groups. Additionally, the team finishing fourth across the two groups with the best performance will secure the seventh spot. The top four teams from the Super-7 stage will play the semi-finals, followed by the final match.
