Snap A Photo Of A Dirty Toilet At A Toll Plaza And Get Up To ₹1,000 In Fastag Credit

New Rule from NHAI

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented strict regulations regarding cleanliness at toll plazas. This initiative will benefit travelers using national highways. If your journey is spoiled by foul-smelling or dirty toilets at a toll plaza, you now have the opportunity to file a complaint and even earn a reward. The authority has launched the “Clean Toilet Picture Challenge.” Under this initiative, travelers can receive a FASTag recharge of up to ₹1,000 by taking and submitting a photograph of a dirty toilet found at a toll plaza.

To participate, you must use the “Rajmargyatra” mobile app. After opening the app, you need to upload a photo of the dirty toilet. It is mandatory to include the name of the toll plaza, its location, and the time the photo was taken. This information should be submitted through the “complaints” section within the app.

Once verified and all specified conditions are met, the FASTag recharge will be credited directly to the FASTag account linked to your vehicle’s registration number. Eligibility for the reward and the final selection process will be determined in accordance with the official guidelines set by the NHAI.

Accountability For Officials

The NHAI has also established accountability for its own officials. According to the issued directive, every official is now required to conduct a physical inspection of the toll plazas under their jurisdiction at least once a week.

During these inspections, they must prepare a report on the cleanliness and maintenance of the toilets, toll booths, surrounding premises, and signage. Photographs must be uploaded to a digital portal.

Notice To The Operating Agency

If any lack of cleanliness or other deficiencies are discovered, a “show-cause” notice will be issued immediately to the agency responsible for toll collection. The agency will then be required to rectify the issues within a specified timeframe and upload updated photographs to the portal. If an agency has pending complaints or notices regarding a lack of cleanliness at 10 percent or more of its total toll plazas, it will be declared a ‘non-performer.’ This could also put the agency’s contract at risk.

8 Toll Plazas In Punjab Under Scrutiny

This stricter policy will also be implemented in Punjab, though it will apply exclusively to toll plazas that fall under the jurisdiction and contracts of the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India). The cleanliness regulations will be enforced at the following toll plazas: Ladowal, Shambhu, Ghulal, Kalajhar, Lehra Bega, Kot Karor Paindh, Sheikhpura, and Khuiyan Sarwar.
