Kinnaur Kailash Yatra: 375 Pilgrims Can Visit Daily
Here’s How To Register For A Glimpse Of The 72-Foot-High Shivling
The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra in Himachal Pradesh will officially commence on July 30. The district administration has decided to conduct the pilgrimage until August 10; however, the duration of the Yatra will depend on weather conditions and may be extended if necessary.
19-Kilometer Trekking Route
The pilgrimage involves a trek of approximately 19 kilometers. Kinnaur Kailash is home to a 72-foot-high Shivling, which holds deep spiritual significance for devotees. A meeting was held on Saturday, presided over by the SDM of Kalpa and the Chairman of the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra Organizing Committee, Praveen Bhardwaj, to review preparations for the pilgrimage.
Risk Of Landslides And Falling Rocks In Several Areas
Officials from various departments including Forest, Police, Health, Home Guards, Jal Shakti, and Revenue participated in the meeting. The Yatra had previously been temporarily postponed on June 28 after an initial reconnaissance revealed risks of landslides and falling rocks at certain locations. A reconnaissance team was subsequently sent again on July 10 and submitted its report on July 16. Based on this report, safety and repair works are being carried out at vulnerable spots, and the decision to start the Yatra was made following the completion of these tasks.
Online Registration Begins July 28
Praveen Bhardwaj, Chairman of the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra Organizing Committee, stated that online registration will begin on July 28, while offline registration will start on July 30. This year, 375 pilgrims will be permitted to undertake the journey daily; of these, 175 slots will be allocated online, 125 offline, and 75 through the Adventure Tour Operators Association, Kinnaur. No pilgrim will be allowed to undertake the journey without registration. Safety measures, such as the installation of cameras and ropes, will also be implemented along the trekking route before the pilgrimage begins.
Starting Point Of The Yatra
The pilgrimage will be conducted exclusively via the Tangling-Meling Khata-Gufa route. The meeting included discussions on law and order, traffic management, and medical arrangements along the pilgrimage route. Plans were also formulated regarding drinking water, registration, disaster management, and security. The deployment of officials and personnel from the Police, Home Guard, Health, Forest, Jal Shakti, and Revenue departments was finalized. Doctors, pharmacists, police forces, Home Guard personnel, forest staff, and other essential personnel will be deployed at various halting points.
