Amid the ongoing internal strife within the Punjab Congress, Congress Legislature Party leader Partap Singh Bajwa may become the new president of the state unit. After the meeting between Rahul Gandhi and national president Mallikarjun Kharge yesterday (July 14), Bajwa was summoned to Delhi unexpectedly on Wednesday, where he met K.C. Venugopal.
According to sources close to the Congress high command, current president Raja Warring may resign on the behest of the party leadership. Meanwhile, the Congress high command is preparing to deal a major blow to the faction led by Charanjit Singh Channi; disciplinary action may be taken against him.
